Accept Bitcoin in Jimdo Shop
Can you accept Bitcoin in the Jimdo Shop?
More and more store operators who want to offer their customers modern payment methods such as Bitcoin or Lightning are asking themselves this question.
Jimdo is one of the most popular modular systems in the German-speaking world. A professional website or online store can be created in a short time without any programming knowledge. The system has a deliberately closed structure: All modules are coordinated with each other and are easy to use.
But precisely this advantage becomes a disadvantage if individual payment options are desired.

Does Jimdo support Bitcoin as a payment method?
The clear answer is:
Jimdo itself does not support direct Bitcoin integration.
Only the integrated payment options are available in the Jimdo Shop:
- PayPal
- Prepayment
- Cash on delivery
- Invoice
- Collection
- Check by mail
The Creator Premium package and the additional “Plus” option add further providers such as Klarna or Stripe.
But:
Other payment providers or your own payment gateways cannot be integrated.
Jimdo does not offer an open API interface for individual payment connections.
A native Bitcoin payment is therefore not provided.
Does this mean that Bitcoin is impossible in the Jimdo Shop?
Not quite.
What is not possible:
A direct technical integration like with WooCommerce or Shopware.
What is possible: Offer
Bitcoin via manual payment processing.
And this is precisely where the practical approach lies.
Offer Bitcoin in the Jimdo Shop via prepayment / bank transfer
Jimdo allows the payment method “prepayment” or “bank transfer”
This means:
- The customer orders in the store.
- The order is saved as “open”.
- The customer receives payment information.
- Once payment has been received, the order is manually set to “paid”.
This principle can be transferred to Bitcoin.
Instead of bank details, you send the customer a Bitcoin Payment Link or a Lightning invoice.
The process remains the same – only the means of payment changes.
Bitcoin payment link or Bitcoin invoice form – which makes sense?
If you want to offer Bitcoin in your Jimdo Shop without direct integration, there are two proven options available to you.
Bitcoin Payment Link
A Bitcoin payment link already contains all the payment information – in particular the invoice amount. The customer clicks on the link and pays immediately. The Bitcoin amount is automatically calculated at the current exchange rate.
Advantages:
- Very convenient for the customer
- Fixed invoice amount in Euro
- Dynamic exchange rate conversion at the time of payment
- Ideal for classic product orders
This solution is particularly suitable if you process individual orders manually and want to offer your customers the simplest possible payment process.

Bitcoin invoice form
With the Bitcoin invoice form, a form is integrated on your website. The customer enters the relevant information themselves and generates the payment request.
Advantages:
- Less manual effort for you
- Ideal for many potential payers
- Suitable for services or flexible amounts
This variant is particularly suitable if customers are to trigger payments independently without you having to manually create a payment link for each order.

Why not simply send your own Bitcoin address?
Many merchants think:
“Why don’t I just send my wallet address?”
The problem is price volatility.
If you tell the customer to transfer 0.0008 BTC, for example, this amount is based on a specific Bitcoin exchange rate. Depending on the price development, the customer could decide tactically whether they really want to pay with Bitcoin or would rather choose another payment method.
It is therefore more professional to use a payment provider with dynamic exchange rate calculation. The Bitcoin amount is only determined at the time of payment – not when the invoice is issued.
In this way, the euro amount remains constant and the exchange rate risk is neutralized.
Who takes care of the course calculation and payment processing?
A specialized Bitcoin payment provider takes care of this:
- Automatic exchange rate conversion
- Payment processing (Onchain & Lightning)
- Payment confirmation
- Forwarding to your wallet
Your Jimdo Shop doesn’t need to know about this.

Is it worth switching from Jimdo to another store system?
A complete system change usually involves considerable effort:
- Reconstruction of the store
- Migration of all content
- Technical and financial expenditure
For many smaller merchants, this effort is not in proportion to the additional benefit of direct Bitcoin integration.
Therefore, the pragmatic solution of advance payment / bank transfer is the most sensible way in many cases.
Conclusion: Bitcoin in the Jimdo Shop – pragmatically implementable
A direct Bitcoin integration is currently not planned for Jimdo.
However, Bitcoin can still be offered via the existing prepayment function – without changing the system and without programming knowledge.
For small and medium-sized stores, this is a realistic and practicable introduction to Bitcoin and Lightning payments.
If you want maximum flexibility in the long term, you should opt for a store system with an open payment interface for a future relaunch.
Until then:
Bitcoin in the Jimdo Shop is not officially integrated – but is still possible with the right process design.
