What is Bitcoin Shoutout?
With Bitcoin Shoutout, visitors to your website can post a message or comment – but only after they have made a Bitcoin donation. This not only creates added value for your community, but also a new form of monetization.
Bitcoin Shoutout in practice
A well-known example is the Einundzwanzig Podcast: Anyone who donates more than 21,000 satoshis will be named in the next episode.
Also the Bitcoin Association also uses Bitcoin Shoutout to display donor messages on its website.

Install plugin

Go to Plugins > Install

Search for: Bitcoin Donation or Coinsnap

Click on Install and then on Activate
Set up payment provider
Log in to your Coinsnap account. If you don’t have a Coinsnap account yet, create one and use the discount code Coincharge to save 0.25% on fees.
After you have logged in to your Coinsnap account, go to Settings and then to Store. Here you will find the required Store ID and your API key.
Then enter the store ID and the API key in the WordPress settings and click on check. If you have done everything correctly, the message that the connection was successful will appear in green.

If you are using a BTCPay server, enter the URL of your BTCPay server in the BTCPay URL field.
Then log in to your BTCPay server and select the corresponding store.
An API key with the necessary rights is automatically generated and entered in the corresponding fields in the WordPress plugin.

Go to Bitcoin Donation > Donation Forms

Choose Shoutout Donation

Activate “Enable Shoutouts”

Set currency, standard amount, text suggestions and minimum donations

Optional: Set the “Shoutout List Page URL” to display comments in a specific place
Go to the menu item “Bitcoin Donation” and then to “Donation Forms”. There you will find various donation templates. Select “Shoutout Donation” here.
To be able to use Bitcoin Shoutout later, you must check the “Enable Shoutouts” box.
Under “Currency” you enter the currency that will later be displayed to donors as the default currency. However, donors can change the currency at any time. We use euros here.
We then enter the button text. This is the text that the donor clicks to call up the Bitcoin payment. We write here: Shout out now.
We then define the title for the shoutout. We write here: “Leave a Comment”.
In the field “Default Amount in Fiat” we write the amount that is given to the donor as a recommendation.
In the “Default Message” field, we write a suggestion of what the donor could write. For example: “Thank you for your great work, which I am happy to support with a small Bitcoin donation.”
You can then specify a minimum and a premium shoutout amount. Both specifications are made in Sats.
The minimum amount for a Shoutout should be 21 Sats and for a Premium Shoutout 2100 Sats.
We can then set a premium shoutout amount. If someone donates more than the amount specified there, this comment will be highlighted.
If you want the Shoutout comments to be displayed on a different page, you can enter this page under “Shoutout List Page URL”.
As the site operator, you can check the “Donor Information” box to request additional information such as name, email address or address or define your own fields. This information is not displayed on the website, but is only available to the site operator.

We then get two shortcodes displayed. One is the shortcode with the name Shoutout_Form. This is the input form for the donor.
Then there is another shortcode called Shoutout-List where the comments are displayed on the website.
It is best to create your own website and copy these two shortcodes one below the other onto the website.
I create a page that is displayed at coincharge.io/bitcoin-donation.
This is what the result looks like now. Anyone who wants to can visit the page now and make a small donation and leave a comment telling me what you think of my work and what I can do better.
Management of shoutouts
You can find all comments posted in the WordPress menu under Shoutouts. There you can easily edit or delete unwanted posts.
