Coinsnap – Specialist for Bitcoin payment modules
Coinsnap is not a traditional payment service provider, but a specialist for Bitcoin and Lightning payment modules.
The company develops plugins and extensions that enable online stores to receive Bitcoin payments easily, securely and directly.
Instead of having to set up your own interfaces or complex payment processing, Coinsnap provides ready-to-use modules for WooCommerce and many other systems such as Shopify, Shopware, Gambio, PrestaShop, Magento, OpenCart, Wix, JTL-Store, Drupal or WordPress forms.
The decisive advantage: Coinsnap does not manage customer funds. Payments are made directly from the buyer’s wallet to the merchant’s wallet – securely, transparently and without detours.

Create Coinsnap account
We go to the Coinsnap.io website and find the link on Create Account in the top menu bar.
On the registration page, enter your e-mail address and choose a password.
The password should be at least 8 characters long and contain a combination of numbers and upper and lower case letters.
Please enter Coincharge in the voucher code (referral code) field.
With this discount code you save 0.25% on fees permanently – a simple step that pays off.
As soon as you have registered with an e-mail address, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. The e-mail address must be confirmed in the confirmation e-mail by clicking on the confirmation link.
After verifying your e-mail address, log in to the Coinsnap backend with your access data.
At Coinsnap, privacy comes first.
Only your e-mail address and your Lightning address are required for use.
No other personal data is required for payment processing.
Create Coinsnap website
After you have registered with Coinsnap, you can enter your website and your Lightning address.
Enter the name of your website or online store in the first field.
This name will later appear on the payment page and will be displayed to your customers there.
Lightning address
Next, enter your Lightning address.
This looks similar to an email address. All Bitcoin and Lightning payments from your customers will be forwarded to this address and credited directly to your Lightning wallet.
If you do not yet have a Lightning address, choose a Lightning wallet that provides you with such an address.
You can find an overview of suitable wallet providers in the article: Lightning wallet with Lightning address.
In the next step, we will show you how you can easily create your own Lightning address using the Wallet of Satoshi as an example.
With the provider Wallet of Satoshi, you not only receive a Lightning wallet, but also a Lightning address.
To set up a Wallet of Satoshi wallet, go to the website: walletofsatoshi.com
There you will find the appropriate link to your app store (iOS or Android), which you can use to install the app directly on your smartphone.
Once you have started the Wallet of Satoshi app on your smartphone, you will find the “Receive” button at the bottom left .
Tap this to create a Lightning address and receive payments.
A new window will now open.
You will find your personal Lightning address under the QR code displayed.
It looks like an email address and is the address you can give to anyone you want to receive Sats (Bitcoin in the smallest unit) from.
You then enter this Lightning address at Coinsnap.
All Bitcoin and Lightning payments from your customers are then automatically forwarded to this address and credited directly to your Lightning wallet – in this example, the Wallet of Satoshi.
Coinsnap Payment Plugin
You can easily download the plugins and install them yourself in just a few steps – without any prior technical knowledge. This allows you to integrate payment processing with Bitcoin and Lightning directly into your website.
Coinsnap offers extensive payment modules for easy connection to the most common store systems, for example:
- WooCommerce
- Shopware
- Shopify
- Gambio
- Prestashop
- Magento
- Wix
- Opencart
- Further Payment Plugins are being developed on an ongoing basis.

Here you will find a complete overview of all currently available Coinsnap payment plugins.
Store Settings
Regardless of which store system or payment module you use, you will need technical access data for your online store to communicate with the Coinsnap system for processing Bitcoin and Lightning payments.
You can find this access data in the Coinsnap backend under Settings → Store settings.
The information in the Coinsnap Store ID and Coinsnap API Key fields must be entered in the respective payment module.
You can find out exactly how this works for your store system in the instructions for your store system.
Credit to Lightning Wallet
End customers can pay with Bitcoin or Lightning in your webshop.
The payment to the merchant is made as a Lightning payment directly to the stored Lightning wallet by default.
All customer payments are forwarded directly to the merchant’s wallet – similar to a Lightning Routing Node.
Coinsnap itself does not hold any customer funds, ensuring maximum security and transparency.
Credit to bank account
For traders who wish to receive their payouts to a bank account, Coinsnap offers connections to various Bitcoin and Lightning brokers.
Incoming Lightning payments are automatically forwarded to the broker, converted into the desired currency and paid out directly to the trader’s bank account.
Coinsnap works with several providers so that withdrawals in your country are also possible without any problems.
Coinsnap fees
Coinsnap charges a fee of 1 % on the processed turnover if you use the discount code “Coincharge” when registering. This saves you 0.25 % in fees.
If you want to make a withdrawal not to your Lightning Wallet, but to a bank account, a Bitcoin address or in stablecoins, this is done via external partners and may involve additional fees.
You can also earn money as a Coinsnap user:
-
Anyone who recommends Coinsnap to others will receive 0.25 % of the turnover of the referred customer.
-
Programmers who develop payment modules for Coinsnap also benefit and enable easy integration into a wide range of Internet applications.
Conclusion
Coinsnap is an interesting solution for online store operators who want to offer their customers Bitcoin and Lightning payments.
No separate Lightning node is required – a Lightning address is all that is needed to receive incoming payments directly to your own Lightning wallet.
If you don’t want to keep the bitcoins, you can alternatively have them paid out to your own bank account.
Thanks to the large number of payment modules, simple and fast integration into the most common store systems is possible.
Anyone who already accepts Bitcoin payments via another provider can now also offer Lightning payments with Coinsnap.
Another advantage is privacy: apart from the e-mail address and the Lightning address, no other personal data is requested.
